Echinacea in detail

The Echinacea is a wonderful flower for a variety of reasons. I happen to like it because of its wonderful mathematical properties.
These properties are shared by many other plants and flowers like the sunflower and broccoli. Even the pineapple exhibits this display. I speak none other than the fabulous Fibonacci number sequence set, or spiral pattern.

Since almost everyone has seen these flowers as a whole, I like to get up close and photograph the patterns. So with a combination of my DA 35mm limited macro, DA* 50-135mm plus diopter and F 35-105 with extension tube, set out to take some photos.

The fabulous DA 35 ltd requires real up close and personal, creates shadows and is not practical in the field.

The DA* 50-135mm can produce some awkward effects with the diopter depending on the zoom range.

The F35-105mm with extension tube is not bad, but I prefer the handling of the DA 55-300 with diopter (no photos in this set). One of these days I’ll get a real 100mm macro.
