As an experiment in light, abstract, composition, theme and close-up photography, I embarked on placing knights on a chess board.
This was low tech set up, nothing special. A small halogen light, tripod, chess set and some Schleich knights. I had conceived this idea a while ago but just put it together a few days ago. The figurines are a bit bigger than I want them to be, and kinda limited them to how many to place on the chess board. Still, I think the theme works. I wanted to put the mounted knights in the photos, but that is for another time.
The Schleich figures are just fabulous and we have a few and they may make appearances in other photo projects that I have still locked up in my imagination. But that is for another time.
I used the DA 16-45mm for most of the photos and the Vivitar 19mm. Some of the images are similar but have been treated differently with colour adjustments or black and white treatments.

PS. In a short while there will be another Fanshaw Pioneer set. This will feature some of the domestic life of the early settlers and the interior of their houses.
